Education

It all starts with education. The Buffalo River Dene Nation is proud to offer programs and education infused with our language and culture.

Head Start

Our Head Start program has two teachers that serve children ages 3 – 5 with a focus on school-readiness skills and cultural activities. This program aims to provide a foundation that prepares children for school and the future. The philosophy that guides this program is, “Learn through play!”

Little Bison Daycare

We have childcare providers and daycare coordinators to support child development in our Nation while parents build careers. Call today to find out more.

Buffalo River School (K-12)

The Buffalo River Dene School weaves Two-Eyed seeing into education and delivers Land-based cultural programs for students from kindergarten to Grade 12. Principal Katy Carson and Vice Principal Laurette Chanalquay are leaders of the school.

Health Services

Fostering healing, health and well-being for all.

The Buffalo River Dene Nation provides health services to our members and those living in the surrounding area. This includes mental health, addictions, child and family and FASD services.  In addition to these departments, there are health coordinators, nursing staff, travel coordinators, home care workers, receptionists, nursing staff and administrative assistants who support the Health Clinic in delivering essential services to our Nation. These members of our community are the backbone to our continued health and prosperity as a Nation, thank you.

Jordan’s Principal

Jordan’s Principle is a child-first principle that aims to eliminate service inequities and delays for First Nations children. We work every day to ensure our children can access the products, services and support they need when they need them.

Housing

Applications

As our Nation grows, so does the need for housing. We are working to reduce the shortage and ensure all members have a safe and comfortable place to live. To advocate for additional housing resources, it’s important we fully capture the need. Please fill out a housing form if you are looking to secure a home or submit the renovations form if your house needs maintenance.
